Happy Summer from the Erikslund Rugby Board!

As we head into the summer break, we want to take a moment to thank every player, coach, volunteer, parent, supporter and sponsor who has helped make the first half of 2026 such a fantastic success.

Together, we are building something truly special.

At the beginning of the year, the Rugby Committee identified four key priorities that would help us move towards our long-term vision of becoming Sweden's best rugby community:

Grow the number of girls playing rugby
Help more of our teenage players successfully transition into senior rugby
Develop our coaches and volunteers through our values of Fun, Community and Development
Build a thriving refereeing community

And we're delighted to say... we're making fantastic progress!

Growing our club

One of our goals for 2026 was to increase the number of licensed players and coaches by 10%.

We have already achieved that goal halfway through the year!

140 → 154 licensed members (+10%)
Girls rugby: 11 → 15 licensed players (+36%)
Licensed coaches: 12 → 18 (+50%)
Youth players: 44 → 55 (+25%)

These numbers represent much more than statistics, they represent new friendships, new opportunities and a stronger future for Erikslund Rugby.

While we're proud of this progress, we know there is still work to do. We'd love to welcome more children into our U8 and U10 teams, and we'd also like to continue growing our men's senior squad.

The great thing is that every member can help.

Most new players join because a friend invited them.

So if everyone invites just one friend, classmate, colleague or family member to come along and try rugby, together we can continue growing our amazing community.

Another easy way to support the club is by following and engaging with us on social media. Every like, comment and share helps more people discover Erikslund Rugby.

Building for the future

We're also excited to welcome Christian Futschik Jr as the coordinator for our new refereeing community. Developing more referees is an important investment in the future of both Erikslund Rugby and Swedish rugby, and we look forward to seeing this initiative grow over the coming years.

We need your help

One of the greatest strengths of Erikslund Rugby has always been our volunteers.

To keep growing sustainably, we'd much rather have many people doing a little than a few people doing everything.

If you could spare just a couple of hours each month, we'd love to hear from you.

Right now we're particularly looking for members who would enjoy helping with:

Sponsorships
Representing Erikslund in the Stockholm Rugby Union
Social events
Website and social media updates

Each of these areas already has dedicated people involved, we simply want to build small teams of 2–3 volunteers so that the work becomes even more enjoyable and sustainable.

Other highlights from an exciting first half of 2026
Our new club match shirt

This year our members voted on four new shirt designs, with almost 100 votes cast.

The clear winner was the striking Viking Rune design in Erikslund colours.

Having one shared match kit across all our teams will strengthen our identity and club pride for years to come.

Opening of Täby Rugby Centrum

On Saturday 15 August we'll officially celebrate our fantastic new changing rooms and clubhouse at Täby Rugby Centrum.

The day begins at 11:00 with family activities for everyone in the Erikslund Rugby family before finishing with our men's senior team taking on Uppsala RFC at 15:00.

We hope to see the entire club there!

Congratulations, Patrik!

A huge congratulations to our long-standing member Patrik Hillelson, who has been appointed member of the Swedish Rugby Federation.

The Swedish Rugby Federation has also launched its new long-term strategy, Rugby 100, with an ambitious goal of growing rugby in Sweden by 8% every year until 2032. Please read it here: Swedish rugby federation strategy 2032!
